Puttu is a breakfast staple in most of South India. It is made by soaking this flour with salt and water for 5 minutes, adding fresh grated coconut, and steaming. It is most commonly prepared in a Puttu Maker, but you may also use any steaming vessel in a pressure cooker. Puttu is most commonly eaten with bananas, steamed chickpea curry, chicken curry or boiled green gram.
